Our colleagues in Cambodia have been very busy recently raising awareness about human trafficking in communities and empowering other NGO’s and community leaders to do the same.

In May 2022, Hagar Cambodia staff collaborated with the Cambodia National Council for Children, to run a training for 47 duty bearers from Kamport province. This training aimed to increase the participants knowledge about human trafficking and child protection while also equipping them with the tools needed to respond to these issues in their community. As a result of their attendance, participants recorded an increase in their understanding of the issues (from 45% to 87%!) and now know about Hagar’s work. 10 intervention plans were also developed by participants for conducting education campaigns in their communities.

Hagar staff have also collaborated with community based groups, local authorities and school teachers to run 3 education and awareness initiatives in Batambang and Siem Reap. Community members and school students all learnt about human trafficking, safe migration, domestic violence and child protection.
