In 2025, a Vietnamese man trapped in a scam compound in Myanmar reached Hagar's US team. Hagar teams and a trusted local partner moved quickly, helping connect the information to authorities. A government-led operation later freed nearly 2,000 people, including the man who sent the message.

Modern slavery is an umbrella term for severe exploitation in which a person cannot refuse or leave because of threats, violence, coercion, deception or abuse of power. It includes forced labour, forced marriage, debt bondage and human trafficking.
Hagar provides individualised, trauma-informed support. Depending on each person's needs, this can include counselling, safe accommodation, healthcare, education, legal support, family support, skills training and pathways to decent work.
