Tanzila was married at the age of 14 to settle her father’s debt, a decision that placed her in years of abuse and hardship from a very young age. With no control over her circumstances and no opportunity to continue her education or earn an income, she endured long periods of suffering in order to survive. When she became a mother of three, the pressure of providing for her children without any source of income became overwhelming.

Each day was a struggle to secure food and meet even the most basic needs of her family.

Her situation began to change when she was selected to join an RLL tailoring cooperative. Through the cooperative, Tanzila gained practical tailoring skills that allowed her to begin earning an income for the first time. She also received business training, which helped her understand how to manage her work and build a more stable livelihood. This opportunity enabled her to support her children with greater security and dignity.

Beyond economic independence, RLL also supported Tanzila’s emotional recovery through psychosocial care. This support helped her begin to process her experiences and regain a sense of confidence and self worth. Through the combination of skills training, income generation, and emotional support, Tanzila was able to rebuild hope for herself and her children.

“Through the tailoring cooperative, I found a way to support my children and begin healing from the past.”
