A desperately poor country with a large population.
Myanmar is the largest country in Southeast Asia and shares borders with six nations. Political crises have had catastrophic effects for Myanmar’s people.
The country has one of the highest rates of human trafficking in the world, and yet there are few services for victims.
Hagar has worked in Myanmar since 2014, building the capacity of local organisations to help survivors of human trafficking, slavery, and abuse to heal and rebuild their lives.
